Since its inception in 1965, the Petroushka Ball has grown into one of New York's most important Russian-American events, attended by over 700 guests representing the business, artistic and diplomatic elite. Past Petroushka Ball events featured leading soloists of the Metropolitan Opera, the American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet, Bolshoi Theater and other companies.
All net proceeds from the 46th Petroushka Ball will be directed towards the Russian Children's Welfare Society (RCWS) charitable programs. Founded in 1926, the RCWS is a 501 c 3 non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of disadvantaged children in Russia by supporting organizations that effectively enhance their health, education, and social welfare. Among RCWS projects are educational scholarships for orphans, medical treatment for children with severe facial deformities, assistance to orphanages, rehabilitation programs for children with special needs, a New Year's party in Moscow for disadvantaged children and many other vital programs.
